How Can I Help?

Calvary Christian Academy is committed to involving parents and guardians in their child’s school experience. Our school would not function without your faithful giving of your time and we are so grateful for your willingness to serve as a volunteer. We believe this gives you an opportunity to teach your child—through your example—how to love and serve the Lord, as you volunteer in your child’s school and classroom. There are so many events, activities, and functions that occur throughout the school year, and we need people to plan, coordinate, and staff them. Please read the following information carefully and consider how and where you can fit into the life of our school. Some of these activities require small but long term, consistent time commitments. Others are one day, single shift opportunities. Several jobs you can even do from home!

Family Service Program Guidelines [document]

Please review our list of roles and activities, and find one or several that fit your schedule. Even if you only have an hour or two to spare, we could use your help! Email creinhardt@calvaryca.org to let us know how you’d like to help.

Room Moms are the most important volunteers in the school. We rely on them to communicate effectively with parents the needs for many class activities, and to assist with school wide activities. They are front-line ambassadors and facilitators for parents.

  • Teacher Appreciation at Staff Meetings: Set-up and clean-up, provide a dish for staff weekly meetings or teacher in-services. Possibly help create tokens of appreciation for our teachers.
  • Hospitality: Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests at any of the following events: Back to School Night, Open Houses, Grandparents Day, etc. Help coordinate food, coffee, linens, flowers.
  • Decorating: Every event has its own look that requires planning/prep and set-up of decorations. Work closely with Events Manager.
  • Ambassador: Greet new, returning, and prospective parents with smiles and name tags; facilitate logistics at any of the following events: Christmas Concert, Celebration of Learning, and Open Houses.
  • Uniform Closet: Manage and sort the collection of items.
  • Lost & Found Organizer: Manage and sort the collection of items
  • Recycling Coordinator: Manage and sort the recyclable items at school on a weekly basis.
  • After-school Clubs: Have an extracurricular passion or hobby that you’d like to share after-school with our students?  We rely on our parents to head these clubs. We’d love to have you share and teach it here!
  • Event Leader: An event leader would work closely with the school’s events manager to manage the planning, people, and implementation. Usually a short-term commitment.
  • Assist with planning school events: Work closely and assist the school’s events manger with anything he/she might need help with while planning an event.
  • Event Setup/Takedown: All-school events require manual labor for set-up and tear-down. Men and responsible young people are greatly appreciated.
  • Yearbook Helper: Help to take pictures for class field trips, fun class events, etc.  Then upload to our yearbook website.
  • Library Helper: Help to sort, label, and maintain library.
  • Campus Facility Projects: Help at a quarterly workday to improve our campus.
  • Assist the Parent Volunteer Manager: Effectively coordinate and manage our volunteers. Inform volunteers in a friendly and timely manner by email or phone call when and where their skills can be applied to the ongoing efforts of our school community.
  • Managing the Volunteer Database: Need to establish a volunteer database each year from the volunteer forms. Remain in close communication with the Parent Volunteer Manager.
  • Fundraiser Auction Donation Procurement: During auction season, mail or fax a prepared donation letter and donation form to be mailed or faxed to area businesses. Work closely with Fundraising Coordinator.
  • Substitute Teaching: College graduates may apply.  Email info@calvaryca.org for more information.
  • Classroom Volunteer:  Volunteering specific to your child’s classroom (recess duty, copying, grading, field trip driver, etc.) will be coordinated through your child’s teacher.  Volunteer application must be submitted before volunteering in the classroom.

Moms in Prayer

Moms In Prayer meets once a month to pray for Calvary Christian Academy and various needs within the school community. All moms are welcome to join as available.  Please contact Susi Lim (slim@calvaryca.org) for more information.

Dads in Prayer

Every first Saturday of the month, dad’s are invited to join Principal Allen in praying for our school, and for our families and students. All dads war against the Godless culture we live in today with our families. You will be encouraged to stand firm in God's Word and prayer, as you raise your treasured children to follow Jesus. One of the reasons we focus on God's word at CCA is so that our prayers are not hindered, but instead demonstrate the filling and empowerment of the Spirit of God in all we do. It is our prayer that your family is experiencing God's blessings and promises, and that we strive together for our homes to be beacons of light in this dark world.

Dad's Days

Calvary Christian Academy hosts four Dad’s Days throughout the year. Dad’s Day was established to welcome dads to our school community as they have lunch with their children and participate in a school-wide activity. The goal of these special days is for dads to connect with other dads, get involved in their child’s class, and have an opportunity to enjoy a meal with their children.
